The George & Dragon restaurant is passionate about food and this is why many local people have said we offer ‘one of the finest dining experience in North Yorkshire”. Our fully qualified chefs provide us with a wealth of talent evident in both the style and quality of our food. We serve food all day from April - October and during the winter months every lunchtime and evening. All dishes are prepared in our own kitchens using the finest of local Yorkshire produce and our own herb garden.
Eating out in Ryedale North Yorkshire has never been so exciting choosing a refined dish from the restaurant 'a la carte' or 'Early Bird' menu or a great classic from our famous blackboard specials we promise the same exceptional quality. You can eat in the lovely candlelit restaurant by far the cosiest in North Yorkshire. The restaurant was once the old brewhouse of the inn and therefore has a real unique charm.
Fresh fish from Whitby, game in season from the moors and woodlands, Yorkshire farmfresh eggs, local Yorkshire cheeses, locally raised beef and lamb, and even Ice Cream made only a few miles away provide the best of fresh produce for both menus. Great flavours, stylish presentation without being pretentious and sensible portions are key factors - no one leaves our tables hungry!
Informal Hearty Bistro
If you don’t fancy the restaurant then you are sure to love the more relaxed & informal bistro area, just off the bar. The bistro is the perfect place to enjoy a large hearty meal of local produce, enjoying a pint or two of our finest ale whilst being warmed by the glow of the bar’s log fire. Wednesday is Market Day in Kirkbymoorside and this has the bistro bustling with people enjoying a fabulous coffee, from our Gaggia machine along with home made biscuits so whether it’s an espresso, cappuccino or latte we are the place to meet.
